We all have to make temporary changes on how we view and purchase real estate. Everything from wearing a mask to watching virtual tours. We are not here to say what is right or wrong or what the best methods are, all we are doing is giving you some ideas of what Realtors are doing and what you can do.
Depending on where you are looking in Florida and how the owner of a property wants to show there home do not be surprised to find any of the following. In a property where the owner lives in the home they may not want to allow you in the home at all and you will have to view it by virtual tour and photos only. Some people want to be given advance notice and they will leave the home before you and your Realtor arrive. You will then be asked to wear a mask, and gloves, be asked not to touch anything and sign a waiver form. As time goes by owners may make many changes to protect themselves until a time when they feel safe again.
For Buyers, you can shop for a home by viewing virtual tours and many people over the years have purchased property without every going into the home first. Think of the case of a new home buyer where the buyer purchases the home or condo based on viewing the floor plan and a site map along with looking at a list of amenities where nothing has been built yet, it happens everyday.
Buyers should for now wear a mask, gloves and carry hand sanitizer. You can ask your real estate agent to open and close all doors as you tour a property and you never have to touch anything. If there are people in the home while viewing it, just avoid them or keep a safe distance. Even if you see that friendly dog you may want to look, but do not touch or pet at this time.
The main goal is for everyone to stay safe and healthy. Please also remember that if you are not feeling well you should not go view homes in person at this time for your safety and the people around you.
